Lyon midfielder Yohan Gourcuff may be allowed to leave the French club in the summer if his form is not up to scratch.
Arsenal have been on the tail of the Frenchman in recent seasons and will no doubt be interested if the central midfielder becomes available on the cheap.
Gourcuff has had an injury hit season but Lyon chairman Jean Michel Aulas has challenged the talented playmaker to earn his place in the title challenging team.
Lyon have been challenging big spending Paris Saint Germian for the Ligue 1 title after being knocked out of the Europa League by Premier League high flyers Tottenham Hostpur.
Gourcuff started for the historic French club in their humiliating 4-1 defeat away at Bastia yesterday that saw them fall further behind PSG in the title race.
Aulas is not happy that any player walks straight back into the team so he has challenged Gourcuff to make an impact.
“We have no choice but for him to again find the value that could attract some clubs,” Aulas told Sky Sports.
“The club has to succeed in our project, which means qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
“Then, we will have a talk with him to see if his future is at Lyon. But if we cannot reach our objectives he will have no opportunity because he will not have participated in a positive adventure.”
