Arsenal have joined Liverpool in the race to sign highly rated goalkeeper Mattia Perin after their previous goalkeeping target Loris Karius is keen on remaining in Germany, Mirror reports.
Karius, who was being tracked by the Gunners, decided to join Borussia Dortmund when his deal with Mainz comes to an end in the summer causing Arsene Wenger to try and negotiate a deal for the Genoa shot-stopper.
Current club keeper Wojciech Szczesny was dropped at the weekend due to a number of poor performances as well as a smoking incident after their recent loss to Southampton.
Now, Wenger is setting his sighs on 22-year-old Perin, a keeper that has been on great form for his side in the Serie A and even managed to keep a clean sheet against league leaders Juventus.
Brendan Rodgers was heavily linked with a move for the Italian international in the build up to the January window and was even urged to make a bid of around the £13million region in order to lure him to Anfield.
