Arsenal have been linked with a £7million move for Chelsea goalkeeping legend Petr Cech, reports the Daily Mirror.
Cech has lost his first team place at Stamford Bridge to Thibaut Courtois this season, and may be allowed to leave in January in search of regular first team football.
Belgian international Courtois even said he would consider leaving the club if he was placed in Cech’s position, and it seems the Gunners are set to take advantage of his situation.
Arsene Wenger is looking to add more experience to a defence that has been leaking too many goals this season, and will make a £7million offer for the 32-year-old once his old nemesis Jose Mourinho gives the green light for his departure.
Wenger has lost patience with 23-year-old Wojciech Szczesny between the sticks, and knows he needs to strengthen his defensive options this winter.
The Gunners have thrown away more points from winning positions then any other Premier League side this season, and currently sit 12 points behind league leaders Chelsea.
Meanwhile, a second placed finish in their Champions League group is the best they can hope for once more, meaning they are likely to be drawn up against one of the European super-powers in the last 16.
