Arsenal to make move for Dutch stopper

Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is set to make a bid for Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul, according to The Sun.

The Dutchman is one of a number of targets for Wenger who wants to sign at least four players between now and the end of the transfer window in a weeks’ time.

Wenger wants to add competition for main stopper Wojciech Szczesny who has become complacent at being the number one between the sticks over the past two years.

Krul put in an impressive displayer keeping a clean sheet against West Ham yesterday but the Toon are desperate to hold on to their ‘keeper and will not let him leave unless big money is involved.

Director of football Joe Kinnear is handling all transfers at St James’ Park this summer and is set to bat away the Gunners’ £10million bid for their number one as Arsenal become desperate to land new players before the deadline.
