Arsene Wenger is hoping he can bring AS Roma defender Kostas Manolas to Arsenal this summer, that is according to reports in the Metro.
The Gunners manager tried to sign the centre-back last summer after the 23-year-old impressed at the World Cup with Greece, however, Roma pipped Arsenal to the signing of Manolas who was with Greek outfit Olympiakos at the time.
It has been widely tipped that Arsene Wenger will look to strengthen his defensive options further when the transfer window reopens despite signing Gabriel Paulista from La Liga side Villarreal in January; Le Professeur said in a recent press conference that he will be targeting younger players and, at 23, Manolas fits the bill.
Manolas has been a mainstay in Roma’s side during this campaign – they currently sit second in Serie A having conceded just 21 goals – having made 34 appearances in all competitions for the Italian side.
Any transfer deal involving Arsenal and Manolas will likely set the Gunners back £15million.
