Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is looking to bring in two more signings after the departures of Alex Song and Robin Van Persie to Barcelona and Manchester United, respectively.
The 62-year-old told Arsenal’s official website “We are looking to bring one more midfielder in of course, and maybe one defender as well because we still feel we are short in some positions.” It is thought that Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin will complete a loan move to the Emirates, preferring a move to the London-based club over Liverpool as he wishes to play Champions League football.
Wenger’s team struggled to find a cutting edge in their opening game of the season at home against Martin O’Neill’s Sunderland. The Arsenal boss was at a loss as to why his team couldn’t defeat the Black Cats. “We didn’t lose, but it is frustrating when you are home with everyone here and you do not create more chances than we did,” he added. “It is very difficult to understand.” With all three new attacking signings, Lukas Podolski, Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla featuring, Wenger will be disappointed with his side’s inability to hit the back of the net.
