The France international vented his frustration with the summer sales of Robin van Persie and Alex Song in the French media recently, and stated that his own future at the north London club was uncertain.
However, Wenger has stated that he has discussed the issue with the defender and reminded him of his responsibilities as an Arsenal player.
“I have had a chat with him about it. I believe any player or any employee always had to defend the company he works for,” Wenger is quoted as saying in The Sun.
“And if he is not completely happy with it then he has to go somewhere else. That is what I say to everybody.
“A new contract will be discussed. I expect him to stay,” the French coach concluded.
