Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta has revealed that he is poised to make his eagerly-awaited comeback from a serious knee ligament injury.

The Spanish star has been sidelined for 11 months with a cruciate ligament injury but is back in full training and ready for a first-team return when Toffees boss David Moyes deems he is ready.

"I have been doing nearly everything in training with the lads over the last week and I am hoping to start doing contact work this coming week," he told the club's official website.

"After that, whenever the manager says 'Mikky you are ready' I am there.

"Driving into (the) Finch Farm (training ground) on my first day back in training was really exciting.

"It has been a long time out and there have been some tough times but hopefully all that is now gone. I am back into my fitness and I am back with the lads. I am really enjoying it at the moment."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
