Aston Villa manager Remi Garde has admitted that former England legend Ashley Cole is a target for him next month, according to ESPN.
The 34-year old has not featured for Serie A giants Roma since March after being left out of their matchday squads for both domestic and Champions League competition.
He moved to the Italian capital in 2014 after leaving Chelsea though he could soon be set for a return to England as Garde bids to bring him to Villa Park.
‘Ashley is someone who has experience, but he hasn’t played for a while now’, stated Garde who was a player with Arsenal as Cole was emerging through the youth teams.
‘Every good player is interesting for me – and he is a good player.’
‘I’m already working on that with the club’, he added.
Though the pair never appeared in the same Gunners side, the 107 capped England international is well known to the Villa chief due to his exploits in the North London and with Chelsea.
He’s won three Premier League titles, seven FA Cups and both the Champions and Europa League across his glittering career.
Now, he could be set for a short-term deal with the Midlands giants as cover for first-choice left-back Jordan Amavi, who was ruled out for the season with knee ligament damage.
