Aston Villa boss admits every player will get their chance this summer

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert admits he will give every player a chance to prove themselves this summer as the club struggle to strengthen their squad, as reported by Sky Sports.

Lambert had previously shunned the likes of Darren Bent, Charles N’Zogbia and Alan Hutton, but the Scot is now prepared to give every player a go in pre-season.

The Villains have been unspectacular in the transfer market so far, with Philippe Senderos and Joe Cole coming in on free transfers and Lambert has a number of injuries to contend with already.

The Midlands club are up for sale by owner Randy Lerner but with no offers coming in, it is set to be a summer of uncertainty for Lambert and co.

The likes of Bent and Hutton will be given a chance to prove themselves though, which Lambert is hoping could prevent them from spending cash.

“I’ve always known they have been good players,” said Lambert.

“Everybody knows the situation that was going on with the football club but these lads have been brilliant.

“We’ve still got big players to come back as well – Benteke, Kozak, Vlaar, Guzan and Senderos. You can see there were a lot of positives from that game.”
