Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has ruled out the possible sale of Liverpool target Christian Benteke by revealing that a £25million bid is nowhere near enough to sign him, Daily Star reports.
The 24-year-old is one of Liverpool’s striking target during the January window, but they will have to come up with a huge bid if they are aiming to begin any sort of negotiations over his possible switch.
Lambert claims that the club is in no way looking to offload the Belgium international and is said to also have the backing of the club owner in regards to keeping him at Villa Park.
He said: “There’s no chance. Is that £25m over three months? That’s for his left boot that one.
“Listen, there is no way I’m looking to sell him and I am pretty sure Randy will be totally fine with that.
“Christian has been my biggest signing. Now he is probably, on his game, one of the best strikers in Europe.”
Villa have not been doing too well following their impressive start to the Premier League campaign, with their ability to score a huge worry for his manager.
The club has only scored 11 goals so far this season from a total of 22 games, but is still in the safe zone at 15th place, five points clear of last place Leicester City.
