Aston Villa have completed the signing of Liverpool target Micah Richards from Manchester City on a free transfer, according to reports from the BBC.
The 26-year-old has agreed the terms of a four-year deal with the Premier League side following his return from a loan spell at Serie A outfit Fiorentina.
Richards has struggled to hold down a regular role at City following a number of injury spells that greatly halted his development.
He featured in only nine league matches in his last two years at the club, while making only 10 Serie A appearances since his move to Italy on a season long loan deal.
The right-back is now confirmed as Villa’s next signing, with manager Tim Sherwood confident that the England international will be a great addition.
“I’m sure he will prove to be an excellent signing for the football club,” he said.
Despite not featuring from his national team since 2012, a move to the Villains could give him the opportunity to fight his way back into the squad.
