Aston Villa have beaten Liverpool to the signing of Jordan Ayew from FC Lorient with manager Tim Sherwood confirming the transfer, according to reports from the BBC.
The 23-year-old joined following the £32.5million departure of Christian Benteke to Anfield as Sherwood looks to continue his spending spree ahead of the new campaign.
He now joins a host of new reinforcement with Jordan Amavi, Idrissa Gueye, Scott Sinclair, Micah Richards, and Mark Bunn all completing moves to the club this summer.
The Villans boss confirmed the addition of the Ghana international to his squad as he will now play against his brother Andre Ayew in the Premier League following his move to Swansea City.
“I’m really pleased to bring Jordan to the football club,” he said.
“He is a fantastic young player who is perfectly suited to the Premier League.”
Villa have also lost Fabian Delph, who recently completed an £8million transfer to Manchester City despite revealing that he was keen on staying to captain his former club.
Ayew featured for his side 30 times in all competitions last term, scoring 11 goals while providing a further six assists and was earlier linked with £5million switch to join the Reds.
