Aston Villa are preparing to make a £10million bid to sign former Arsenal ace Benik Afobe in the January transfer window, according to reports from the Express.
Villa haven’t had the best start to their Premier League season, accumulating just 4 points out of their opening eight games and sit 18th on the table.
And one of the reasons for their poor results is their lack of goals, with the Midlands club only scoring eight in the league so far.
To fix the problem, manager Tim Sherwood is now planning a £10million offer for Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Afobe to improve his attack.
The 22-year-old Gunners youngster only left the Emirates Stadium in January earlier this year for £2million, but went on to score 13 goals in just 21 games for Wolves.
This has therefore seen the Championship club extremely reluctant to let go of Afobe, with manager Kenny Jackett stating: “He is happy here, he works hard and has a central role and place in the team,” the Wolves boss said in the summer.
“A lot of people ask me about him and about his future but we bought him to Wolves to work with him and for us to be successful.”
Afobe was also on loan at MK Dons prior to his permanent move to the Molineux last season, making a total of 51 appearances in all competitions, scoring 32 goals.
