Atletico Madrid have given a huge hint that Chelsea star Fernando Torres – on loan at AC Milan – could make a move back to the Vicent Calderon this January, Mirror reports.
The Blues flop was signed from Liverpool for a massive £50million in 2011, but never performed to the standard of his hefty price tag and was sent out on loan to AC Milan at the beginning of this season.
But the switch didn’t pay off for both parties, as Torres only managed to score one goal during his time at the San Siro.
And only four months into the deal, the seven-time European champions are already considering offloading the 30-year-old.
Liverpool and Atletico Madrid are the two most mentioned destinations for the off-form striker, with both clubs believing they can get the best out of their former star.
And the La-Liga champions hinted Torres could make a return this January, with club president Cerezo stating: “He is not here but that does not mean that he won’t be.”
Torres was a prodigy while playing for Atleti, scoring 94 goals in 241 games and becoming the club’s youngest ever captain.
