West Ham boss Avram Grant has admitted he does not know whether Carlton Cole will be at the club at the end of January.
Grant admits he would like to hold onto the England striker but is aware that he may be powerless to prevent his departure.
Cole has been linked with a £10million move to Liverpool, whilst Tottenham and Stoke are also reportedly interested in acquiring his services. He nearly made the move to Anfield over the summer but the move fell through on deadline day.
Grant has admitted he has big plans for the 27-year-old but his future at Upton Park is in doubt.
He said:"We want him to be here but you never know what will happen in football. We want to keep this squad.
"I don't like the January transfer window because it's not easy to bring players in and we don't want to lose players. We want to keep the same squad for all the season."
West Ham travel to Sunderland on Sunday hoping to continue their winning run after beating Wigan in the Premier League last week and Manchester United in the Carling Cup on Tuesday.
