Barcelona star desperate for Messi to stay

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta is convinced that Lionel Messi will stay with the club despite rumours mounting around a summer switch, as reported by Sky Sports.

Messi has had a number of injuries this season but has still scored a stunning 39 goals in 42 games.

Paris St Germain and Chelsea are rumoured to be lining up ambitious summer moves for the Argentinean who is under pressure to produce at the World Cup this summer.

Iniesta is desperate for Messi to stay with Barcelona and doesn’t see a move abroad being good for his game or career, with his best years still ahead of him.

“I have no doubts about Messi,” Iniesta told El Mundo Deportivo.

“He could not be better anywhere else other than here and Barca will not find another player like him.”

Messi has been criticised this season as Barcelona have fallen behind in the La Liga title race and were knocked out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid.

Former Barcelona boss Tito Vilanova sadly passed away last night after battling with cancer. Thoughts are with his family and the club.
