Manchester United have been boosted in their chase for Barcelona star Pedro after Sergio Busquets revealed that his teammate his looking to play more football, Mirror reports.
Pedro has been heavily linked with a move away from the Nou Camp in recent weeks, following a season in which the Spain international was behind the attacking trio of Neymar, Luis Suarez, and Lionel Messi in the pecking order.
Chelsea were also keen on Pedro’s services, but lately it’s United who are leading the race for his signature.
The 27-year-old will cost the Red Devils £22million to prize him away from Catalonia, and fellow Spaniard Busquets has come out to claim that his teammate is now ready to leave, despite hoping for him to stay.
“Yes, I have spoken to him but I won’t tell you what he said,” said Busquets. “It was a private conversation. I would want him to stay, I would love him to stay.
“He’s a friend of mine and it will be his final decision. He wants to play more and get more minutes. That’s what he wants. But we are in a team of great players and it’s hard for him. Finally, it will be his decision, but I hope he stays.”
Pedro is expected to not feature on a regular basis once again in the upcoming season, and with the winger keen on making the Spain squad ahead of Euro 2016, he will need to look elsewhere for first-team football.
