Bartomeu confident about reaching agreement with Arsenal

Barcelona vice president Josep Maria Bartomeu has claimed that Cesc Fabregas will be a Barcelona player by the end of August The Mirror reports.

The Catalan giants have pursued the Gunners skipper for the last three years and now it seems that they’re finally going to get their man.

Despite  Emirates boss Arsene Wenger insisting that Fabregas is going nowhere Bartomeu has insisted that the Spaniard is moving to the Nou Camp.

A deal could be completed even sooner with Barca coach Pep Guardiola told to expect the midfielder on the flight for their pre-season tour of the USA.

Bartomeu said: “It is a sure thing that we will make one more signing.

“Sanchez was always our number one target. Fabregas was always number two.

“We are discreet and prefer not to talk about signings, but we have time until August 30 to make sure some things happen and I can tell you they will.”

A return home to the club he started his career at is desired by Fabregas although Arsenal are refusing to budge from their £40 million asking price which could scupper any deal.

With finances tight in Catalonia Bartomeu, who has made two trips to London in the past week to talk to Arsenal, has insisted that they won’t spend over budget.
