Roy Hodgson has been out of work since the end of Euro 2016 when he stepped down as England manager.
It seems as though the 70-year-old will return to management in the coming days after the Daily Mail reported that Crystal Palace plan to hire him as Frank de Boer’s replacement.
The Eagles announced via their official website on Monday that the Dutchman has left the club after just five games in charge.
The former Ajax coach oversaw four Premier League matches, and every single one ended in defeat.
On top of that, the London outfit failed to score a single goal during that period, which has left them second from bottom in the table.
The solitary win on De Boer’s record was a 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup.
As rumours intensify that Hodgson is going to be the new man in charge, outspoken Barton has given his views on the experienced coach.
The former Manchester City midfielder did not hold back on talkSPORT when he questioned the ex-England manager’s personality.
“He’s just got no charisma, no personality at all! Did you see him at the back end of that England campaign? He just looked like he needed to be taken out into the back garden and have someone pull the trigger on him.
“A lot of people say he’s a great fella, but I just don’t think [he’s the right fit for the Palace job]. I didn’t see the Frank de Boer appointment, I thought it was a bit left field and I think if you’re them you want somebody who lifts the place up.”
