Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that the club are not interested in signing Manchester United star Angel di Maria, according to reports from talkSPORT.
Di Maria only joined the Red Devils from Real Madrid in a £59.7million deal last summer, but the Argentina international struggled with form and injuries for much of the season.
However, Guardiola has revealed that the Bundesliga champions do not want to sign Di Maria, despite praising the player for his performances in the national team.
“I don’t have to watch Argentina games, because I know him and his style of playing very well,” Guardiola said about Di Maria.
“United did not pay so much money for nothing, he is a great player. Although such transfer fees are sometimes really crazy.”
When prompted whether he wanted Di Maria at Bayern, he replied: “No.”
PSG could be United’s biggest challenge in keeping Di Maria, as the French club are ready to test manager Louis van Gaal’s resolve by making a bid this summer.
The Ligue-1 giants were keen on the 27-year-old prior to his move to Manchester, but did not have the necessary funds due to restrictions from Financial Fair Play regulations.
Di Maria played 33 games in all competitions last season, scoring four goals.
