Genk secured a 2-0 win over Standard Liege on Sunday to keep the pressure on Belgian First Division leaders Anderlecht.
Visitors Genk were gifted the lead after 30 minutes at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne when midfielder Axel Witsel put the ball through his own net.
Genk doubled their advantage after 56 minutes when the Standard defence failed to properly clear a free kick, allowing Nigerian Kennedy Nwanganga to fire the ball home.
The win sees Genk remain three points behind leaders Anderlecht, who beat Cercle Brugge 1-0 on Saturday.
Elsewhere on Sunday, Gent beat Kortrijk 1-0 away from home.
It took until the 82nd minute at the Guldensporenstadion for either team to find the breakthrough, when M’Boyo Ilombe struck to secure all three points for the visitors.
Gent are third, eight points behind Genk and 11 behind Anderlecht, but they do have a game in hand over the top two.
