Birmingham City have accepted a charge handed down by the Football Association after fans ran onto the ground following a match last year.
The club accepted the charge of ‘failing to ensure spectators didn’t enter the field of play’ after their 2-1 win over Aston Villa in the Carling Cup quarter-final at St Andrew’s on December 1.
City are working with police to identify those responsible for the behaviour after the final whistle with further details to follow from a FA hearing due to take place on March 28.
A club statement read: “The club continues its close work with the police with a view to identifying those responsible for threatening to tarnish the reputation of the club and Birmingham City’s image.”
“Acting Chairman Peter Pannu takes this opportunity to remind all fans that similar incidents should not occur again and is confident we have all learned a lesson from it – both the club and those who breached the rules.”
“Club officials would like to thank the FA for their assistance and communication prior to and during the investigation.”
