Blackburn move for Adebayor

Blackburn look set to move for unwanted Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor, according to the Daily Mail.

Manager Steve Kean has been granted a reported £30 million transfer kitty from owners Venkys this summer and hopes to make the Togo striker his first signing.

Adebayor moved to Manchester two summers ago in a £25 million deal but has fallen down the pecking order at Eastlands and spent the second half of last season on loan at Real Madrid. The striker manager 8 goals during his loan spell but Real boss Jose Mourinho was reluctant to meet City’s asking price, believed to be around £14 million.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is also keeping an eye on the 27-year old but has yet to make a move for the former Arsenal striker. The striker is on a reported £100,000 a week deal at City and will have to take a pay cut if he is to move to White Hart Lane.

Blackburn have also been linked with moves for Juventus striker Amauri and Roma’s Mirko Vucinic but whether Kean can convince them to join the Lancashire club remains to be seen.

The club have already lost 19-year old Phil Jones to Manchester United and, with captain Chris Samba linked with a move to Arsenal, Kean will also have to add defensive reinforcements to his squad.
