Arsenal and Manchester United looks to have been dealt a huge blow in their chase for Sami Khedira after revealing that he was interested in extending his contract at Real Madrid, Daily Star reports.
With only six months left on his current deal at the Bernabeu, a host of Premier League clubs were hoping they can reach an agreement with the German World Cup winner ahead of a move in the summer.
However, his latest statement looks to have put the potential move on hold as he hints that he is willing to remain and fight for his place despite huge competition for a role in Madrid’s midfield.
He said: “I’d be happy if we found a solution to the contract situation.
“I’m in good shape again and so I’m very confident that I’m going to get my chances to play very soon.
“I’m a fan of fierce competition.”
