West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has confirmed that Pedro Obiang will play no part in Saturday’s Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur due to injury.
The midfielder was absent from the Hammers’ Carabao Cup win over Bolton Wanderers after suffering a knock in his previous outing.
According to football.london, Bilic told reporters in his pre-match press conference that Obiang is not suffering with a serious injury and should return next week.
“It’s only Pedro Obiang that got injured in the game against West Brom and he will not be in the squad for Saturday. It was one of those injuries where he finished the game, all well, no problem so it’s nothing major or big but he isn’t going to play on Saturday. Hopefully he will be ready for Swansea but that’s it.”
Obiang has been a vital part of the team and losing him for a match of this size will only put the Hammers at a disadvantage.
The midfielder has featured five times in all competitions this season, and contributed with a goal in this month’s 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town.
With Tottenham Hotspur performing well on the road, having won both of their away league fixtures, West Ham need to be at their best all over the pitch.
Mark Noble is now expected to keep his place in the middle of the park after he returned from injury against Bolton in midweek.
The Hammers have had an upturn in form by claiming two wins and a draw in their last three matches in all competitions.
