Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck believes an agreement will be reached with Joe Cole to extend his contract beyond the end of the current season.
Cole, 28, is out of contract at the end of the campaign and could leave the Blues on a free transfer.
However, Buck is confident that an agreement with the former West Ham United starlet will be reached to keep him at Stamford Bridge.
"I am personally a big fan of Joe Cole and we are in discussions with his agent and hopefully that will be sorted out soon," he said.
Cole played the full 90 minutes of Saturday's 7-2 rout of Sunderland as he continued his comeback from a serious knee ligament injury.
He returned to action in September following eight months on the sidelines with a ruptured cruciate ligament.
