Boateng expects better

Hull City skipper George Boateng has told his team-mates they must do better at Birmingham City on Saturday following their disastrous 4-1 defeat to Burnley last weekend.

The shock setback at their KC Stadium home was the Clarets' first away-day success of the campaign and it has left the Tigers four points from Premier League safety with just five games remaining.

But he believes they can turn their season around with a pivotal win at St Andrew's and offer their disappointed fans some much-needed cheer.

Speaking to reporters, Boateng said:"There is nothing we can say to make fans happy again, they deserve better.

"The only thing we've got to offer the fans is to put it right on the pitch. I don't care how we do it, whether it's pretty, ugly or a last-minute goal.

"A victory is the only way we can apologise for the horrendous performance against Burnley.

"It wasn't good enough and it was one of those where you were close to being ashamed. It was a disgraceful performance by the whole team.

"We know we can do it but it will be all about sheer hard work."
