Owen Coyle is keen to bring the Spanish winger to the Reebok and is ready to splash out £5 million on him.
Coyle is a massive fan of the player and his interest has increased after watching Jeffren help Spain to victory in the European Under-21 Championships this summer.
The Spaniard is surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp with manager Pep Guardiola pressing ahead in his efforts to land Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez.
Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has already told the 23-year-old he can leave for pastures new.
“We are working with his agent and we will look for the best place for him to continue his career,” Zubizarreta told the Mirror.
A deal for Jeffren will certainly provide a boost for Coyle who lost Swedish striker Johan Elmander to Galatasary on a free transfer earlier this summer.
He will have to fend off interest from Premier League rivals Liverpool and La Liga sides Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and Valencia who are all said to be interested.
If they do manage to capture his signature it would prove to be a massive coup for the Trotters.
