Paul Jewell has cooled suggestions that he is being lined up to become Bolton Wanderers' new manager.
Chairman Phil Gartside is keen to make a swift appointment following Wednesday's axing of Gary Megson, although Chris Evans and Steve Wigley will be in charge for Saturday's FA Cup third round clash with Lincoln City.
Former Italy goalkeeper Walter Zenga, Peter Reid, Mark Hughes, Darren Ferguson and Alan Curbishley have all been linked with the Reebok Stadium vacancy.
Jewell watched Tuesday's 2-2 draw with Hull City, but said later:"I find it embarrassing as I was at the Hull game with my son as a guest of Gary (Megson). There was no ulterior motive.
"I just thought it would be an interesting game to watch. I am not one of those managers who sits in the stands to be seen or to put any kind of pressure on other managers."
