Arsenal and Manchester United have been given a boost in their bids to sign Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar after his agent reveals that it could be time for him to make a move, Mirror reports.
The 29-year-old became a top defensive target during the summer after a very impressive display at the World Cup with the Netherlands squad but despite links of a move, he decided to remain with Villa.
However, with the upcoming January window drawing closer, the Premier League duo are believed to be back in the race to acquire his services with his agent, Arnold Oosterveer, revealing a move could very well happen.
He said: “It is obvious that for Ron, now is the moment to make a nice big move in his career. Ron is very ambitious.
“The situation is ideal for Ron right now. You can imagine that we are not in a hurry. I don’t want to react to the rumour that he will move to either Arsenal or Man United, but Ron is very ambitious.”
Vlaar is tipped to be reunited with former Dutch national team manager Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford but could also be tempted by an offer from the Gunners as well.
