Boost for Liverpool as manager backs injured striker to return this month

Liverpool has been boosted after Brendan Rodgers came out to reveal that he believes injury struck star Daniel Sturridge could make his return sometime this month, Daily Star reports.

The 25-year-old has missed a huge part of the season and was unable to help the Reds recapture their previous form as they are still struggling to keep up to the pace of the top four clubs.

Sturridge took time off to further his recovery from a calf injury by going to the US to undergo a rehabilitation session hoping he can return back to full fitness in time for the second half of the campaign.

Rodgers said: “He is back in the country to go into final stages of his rehab.

“The work he has done in America has been fantastic, specialising in the rehabilitation and he will now come back, hopefully in some part of January.

“It is difficult to focus on a date, we just need to assess. We’ve been monitoring his situation and he looks in a good moment.”
