Bordeaux ace wanted at Loftus Rd

Mark Hughes is keen to cure his team’s injury woes with the January signing of French forward Yoan Gouffran, according to The Daily Mirror.

With Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson facing lengthy spells on the sidelines through injury, Djibril Cisse is the Hoops only player fit to lead the line.

Gouffran, 26, is thought to be available at a cut price deal after negotiations over a new contract at the Stade Chaban Delmas have not surfaced, meaning the player will be a free agent next summer. The French club are prepared to cut their losses and allow the striker to leave this January.

The Frenchman, who has attracted interest from Everton, Aston Villa and Fulham in the past, has a great scoring record for Bordeaux, netting a goal every 2 games this campaign. With QPR rock bottom of the league and scoring just 9 goals all season, it is thought that Gouffran would be thrown straight into the first team in an effort to climb Hughes’ men out of trouble.

Gouffran started his career at Ligue 2 Caen, helping them win promotion in 2007 before a move to Bordeaux a year later. He has become a key player for the French giants but a move to the Premier League may prove impossible to resist, especially as QPR are ready to increase his current wages.
