Bordeaux have signed former Sochaux coach Francis Gillot to a two-year contract, the Ligue 1 club announced on Monday.Gillot took Sochaux to a fifth-place finish and a Europa League berth last season before departing in search of a fresh challenge.
That is exactly what he will be faced with in Bordeaux, who sacked Jean Tigana towards the end of a disappointing 2010/11 campaign that saw the 2008 champions finish seventh on the Ligue 1 table.
A short statement on the club’s website confirmed the appointment, saying: “Bordeaux is pleased to announce the signing of Francis Gillot.”
“The former Sochaux coach has committed to two seasons at the club.”
The 51-year-old will be joined at Bordeaux by assistants Rene Lobello and Alain Benedet.
