Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is hoping to stay with the Potters to continue to help them progress.
Begovic has been heavily linked with a summer move to Manchester United this season but the Bosnian stopper is adamant that he is at the right club to help his career.
Stoke signed England goalkeeper Jack Butland in the January transfer window and the on loan Birmingham youngster is expected to be one of the top ‘keepers in the Premier League in years to come.
Speculation regarding Begovic’s move to Old Trafford has quietened somewhat due to the improved form of United’s number one David De Gea in recent months.
The 25 year old has revealed his ambition to keep moving forward in football but he believes Stoke are equally ambitious to keep progressing.
A run of bad results for the Potters has not made Begovic turn his attention to the summer just yet.
“I’m a very ambitious person in life and in football and I want to keep trying to move forward,” Begovic told The Sentinel.
“The club is desperately trying to do that, but it takes time and patience, so I don’t feel I have become stale.
“If people are trying to move forward here, then I am happy to be a part of that.
“The main thing is to try to control your own destiny and do the best for yourself and your family.”
