Boston Red Sox have confirmed they are hopeful of staging an Old Firm game between Celtic and Rangers at their historic Fenway Park home in July.
Both Glasgow clubs have already confirmed they will take part in pre-season tours to North America this summer.
That has opened the door to the possibility of the two clubs playing a first ever Old Firm game outside Glasgow and the Red Sox are keen to stage the friendly.
"We don't have anything confirmed but it's something we're trying to put together for July 21," explained Red Sox chief operating officer Sam Kennedy.
"We recognise it's a very special match between two very historic teams and the thought is that a very historic venue like Fenway Park would be appropriate to host that rivalry.
"We're hopeful that we can make it a reality."
