Bournemouth are looking to reinforce their side with the possible signing of Sunderland star Jermain Defoe, according to reports from the Mirror.
The 32-year-old spent a season on loan with the then-League Two side back in 2000, impressing on his spell by scoring 18 goals from a total of 29 league appearances.
It is believed that Defoe is currently unhappy at the Stadium of Light following their struggling start to the current Premier League campaign.
He has now suffered two consecutive losses, falling to a 4-2 defeat to Leicester City on opening day before coming short against Norwich City 3-1 at the weekend.
However, newly promoted Bournemouth is also yet to register their first win as they lost 1-0 to both Aston Villa and Liverpool.
Manager Eddie Howe is now eyeing the former Tottenham Hotspur and Toronto forward to bring some experience into his front lines as he targets another year in the English top flight.
