Julio Cesar is set to snub a move to Arsenal, with the Metro reporting a move to Italian side Napoli is on the verge of completion.
The Brazilian goalkeeper has been a transfer target for the Gunners for the majority of the summer, although now he looks set to link up with former Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez at the Serie A runners up.
The Gunners had reportedly been hoping to secure a £1.5million deal for the 33-year-old, in the hope of him becoming the number one keeper at the Emirates and acting as a mentor to Woijcech Sczcesny.
However now it appears Benitez has stolen a march on his former Premier League rivals, and convinced the keeper to return to Italy – the country where he originally made his name with Inter Milan.
The move to Arsenal appeared a done deal earlier in the summer, with Cesar claiming he was happy and settled in London, and QPR desperate to get him off the wage bill.
But for whatever reason the club failed to launch a bid, and now it appears their dithering will see them miss out on the player completely.
Cesar proved the stand out player for QPR last season, and wants another season at the highest level to ensure he goes to next summers World Cup as Brazil’s first choice goalkeeper.
