Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva is set to depart for Napoli if the Reds can acquire Fabian Delph from Aston Villa, Mirror reports.
Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to sign the Englishman to replace Steven Gerrard, which will push Lucas down the midfield pecking order.
The Brazilian is however very much in demand, with Serie A sides Napoli and Inter Milan interested to take him on loan.
Napoli boss Rafa Benitez has the upper hand in the chase for Lucas, as the former Liverpool manager was the person who brought him to Merseyside back in 2007.
And ever since taking over the Partenopei reign after his stint at Chelsea, Benitez has been keen on bringing the 28-year-old to the Stadio San Paolo.
His departure will however depend on Liverpool’s push for Delph, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
But Rodgers is hoping to sign Delph in January, so the Villa ace can adapt to the Reds playing style and be ready once Gerrard finally departs.
