Southend manager Phil Brown has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur have received bids for their star players Harry Kane and Dele Alli.

The pair are arguably the most valuable members of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad having been key in helping the club finish second in the Premier League last season.

Despite suffering a bout of injury, Kane still ended the campaign as the league’s top scorer with 29 goals, while Alli contributed with 18 of his own and created seven assists.

While there have been no concrete reports that bids have come in for the duo, Brown believes that any would have been rebuffed instantly as the two are vital for future success at the North London outfit.

The 58-year-old made the claims on talkSPORT while discussing Tottenham’s transfer activity, which has seen Kyle Walker leave for Manchester City.

“They’ve managed to keep a hold of their better players in their eyes. Have they got somebody to replace Walker? They think they have. Have they got somebody to replace Dele Alli or Harry Kane? The answer’s no, and that’s the reason why they’ve kept hold of them.

“Have they had bids for Dele Alli and Harry Kane? I would have suggested yes, but they’ve turned them down because they are vital, they are important to any success that Tottenham’s going to have.”

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United have all brought in new recruits this summer, but Spurs are yet to strengthen their squad.
