Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has admitted that his club will be among the long list of clubs interested in signing Germany striker Kevin Kuranyi from Schalke in the summer.
The 28-year-old is out of contract in the summer and seems likely to leave his current club, with the likes of Juventus and AC Milan rumoured to be interested parties.
Bruce commented:"Kevin Kuranyi will be linked with every top club in Europe.
"Let's be fair, he's a fantastic player who is playing for a club which is trying to win the Bundesliga.
"As everybody knows out there, he is the most outstanding Bosman signing probably in Europe, so I would think there must be 25 clubs looking for his signature – and I can confirm we would be interested.
"We all know we are up against it because of how big the personality is and how big the player is. But for a Bosman like that, we have got to be interested."
Meanwhile, Bruce dismissed rumours of a big-money move for Udinese midfielder Simone Pepe, adding:"Where that one has come from, I don't know.
"I can't envisage me paying £15million for an Italian winger. That's a bit wide of the mark."
