The newly promoted Premier League team have had 3 bids rejected for the 27-year-old, who played in 45 league games last season, scoring 7 goals as Brighton reached the play-offs. However, after falling to gain promotion, it seems Stephen is still set to play in the top-flight, with Burnley his likely new club.
Stephens has entered his final contracted year at Brighton, and it seems the club have finally decided to sell the popular midfielder now, in order to get a fee without risking losing him for nothing next summer.
Burnley are looking to bolster their squad ahead of their return to the Premier League, and replace Joey Barton, who joined Rangers earlier on in the transfer window.
Sean Dyche is hopeful that he will have Stephens available to play Swansea City on Saturday in their season opener.
