Burnley’s new £5.5million bid rejected for EURO 2016 ace

Burnley have had a £5.5million bid rejected for Derby County midfielder Jeff Hendrick, according to BBC’s Pat Murphy.

The new Premier League side have been pursuing the Republic of Ireland star, who impressed at EURO 2016. Kendrick played in all four of the nation’s games, as they got the knockout stages, only to lose to hosts France.

The 24-year-old made 33 Championship appearances last season, scoring two goals. And new Rams boss Nigel Pearson wants Hendrick to stay, after rejecting Burnley’s second bid for the midfielder:

Burnley are looking to beef up their squad ahead of their new season back in the Premier League, after earning promotion last season. Midfielder Joey Barton has already left the club this summer, joining Rangers.

Sean Dyche is yet to make a marquee signing during this transfer window, with less than a month until their first fixture in their Premier League return, at home to Swansea City on August 13th.
