Mexico midfielder Nestor Calderon is reported to be attracting interest from a number of clubs in England, most notably Sunderland.
The 20-year-old, who can also play in attack, currently plays in his homeland for Toluca, but would welcome an opportunity to impress in Europe.
He told Televisa Deportes:"To tell the truth this news about me being transferred to Sunderland has taken me by surprise, because I really don't know anything about it.
"Of course it's a dream for me to play in England, it would be very important for my career. But for the moment it's only a rumour, so until somebody comes to me and tells me it's true I will take it as a rumour.
"I don't know how to take this information, but if there is a proposal I will see if I go or what to do.
"Personally, to have the chance to play in Europe is a dream and it's makes me emotional to think that my name is known in England, but I will have to wait."
