Everton youngster Dominic Calvert-Lewin has admitted that it is still 'a little bit surreal' that he is playing alongside Wayne Rooney at Goodison Park.
Rooney completed an emotional return to Everton earlier this summer, re-joining the club that he left for Manchester United in the summer of 2004.
Calvert-Lewin, meanwhile, moved to Everton from Sheffield United last summer, and the 20-year-old scored once in 11 Premier League appearances for the Toffees last season.
The England Under-20 international has claimed that he still has to pinch himself around the 31-year-old, but is looking forward to learning off Rooney at Goodison Park.
Calvert-Lewin told Everton's official website:
“I suppose it’s a little bit surreal but he’s my teammate now and I’ve got to view him as a teammate.
“He’s a great person to learn off, if you look at what he’s achieved in his career so far. For a young striker like me it’s going to be good to learn from him and just try to pick up little bits.
“After all the goals he’s scored and what he’s achieved, it’s going to be good to have someone like that around. I don’t think there’s anyone better, really.”
Everton will travel to Slovakia on Thursday night to face Ruzomberok in the second leg of their third qualifying round clash in the Europa League.
The Toffees will then face Sevilla in their final pre-season friendly on Sunday, before opening their 2017-18 Premier League campaign at home to Stoke City on August 12.
