Campeonato Paulista wrap: Elano shows his class for Santos

Santos moved top of the Campeonato Paulista table with a 2-0 victory over Sao Paulo on Sunday.

Former Manchester City and Galatasaray midfielder Elano opened the scoring for Santos in the 10th minute at the Arena Barueri, before Maikon Leite made sure of the win with a goal in the 73rd minute.


Palmeiras are equal on points with Santos in second place after they dispatched Portuguesa 2-0 courtesy of two late goals at the Estadio Dr Oswaldo Teixeira Duarte.


Alex Santos and Kleber netted for Palmeiras in the 81st and 90th minutes respectively.


Sao Bernardo and Corinthians played out a 2-2 draw at Estadio Primeiro de Maio.


Diogenes opened the scoring for the home side after a quarter of an hour, but Corinthians’ Danilo squared the ledger six minutes from the break.


Kaue gave Sao Bernardo back the lead in the 71st minute, but they were pegged back once more when Luis Ramirez equalised in the 80th minute for Corinthians.


Linsense came from two goals down to beat Paulista 3-2 in a thrilling affair at Estadio Municipal Gilberto Siqueira Lopes.


Hernane and Marco scored two minutes aside of one another to give Paulista a dream start on the road, but Anderson Rocha and Leandro Love goals ensured the score was 2-2 at the break.


Gilsinho struck the winner for Linense in the 71st minute, to secure their first victory of the Campeonato’s season.


Botafogo’s Anselmo scored a late equaliser to deny Bragantino all three points in their 1-1 draw at Estadio Santa Cruz.


Juninho Quixada’s 25th-minute strike looked to have been the winner, but Anselmo stepped up in the 79th minute to find the back of the net for the hosts.


Ze Roberto struck a brace for Mogi Mirim in their 3-1 win over Gremio Prudente at Estadio Romildo Vitor Gomes Ferreira.
