Newcastle United’s cancer-stricken attacker Jonas Gutierrez is preparing to make his way back into the Premier League after successfully completing treatment, Daily Star reports.
The 31-year-old will be flying back to England next month with hopes of returning to training in order to build back his fitness, hinting that he could even make a first team appearance before the end of this campaign.
Having been diagnosed with testicular cancer last year, Gutierrez flew back to South America to receive a host of chemotherapy treatments before recently being released from the hospital a month ago.
The Magpies are said to be open to his return, but the Argentinian winger will have to work even harder than ever to try and earn his way back into Alan Pardew’s plan.
His last match for the club was about 13 months ago, but he did feature during his time on loan at Norwich City in the 2013-2014 campaign.
