Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has admitted his international U-turn is only a short-term measure.
Carragher has been persuaded to come out of international retirement by England coach Fabio Capello ahead of the World Cup finals.
The 32-year-old has been named in Capello's provisional 30-man squad and is widely expected to survive the cut and make the final 23-strong party bound for South Africa.
However, Carragher has no plans to extend his return from England exile when the curtain falls on the World Cup finals.
The veteran defender has even arranged his own testimonial for the day England begin their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign against Switzerland.
"I think going to South Africa is a one-off thing," he said.
"There was a little injury situation. I am sure that will be cleared up by the start of next season and I have got my testimonial for Liverpool on September 3."
