Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes that Burnley's Michael Keane should choose Everton over his former club Manchester United this summer.

The centre-back is expected to receive a flurry of offers when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season due to an impressive campaign.

The 24-year-old joined the Clarets from United in 2015 and helped the club gain promotion to the Premier League last summer.

This season, he has established himself as a defender worthy of the top flight, starting every single one of Burnley’s 34 league fixtures.

The rumour mill has been churning about potential destinations for Keane after Sky Sports reported that he will move on in the summer.

Carragher thinks that a return to Old Trafford would be detrimental for Keane because he would not be seen as a big new signing, nor would he receive as much game time as he would if he chose Merseyside.

The TV pundit told Sky Sports:

"There's talk of Everton going for him. I think that'd be perfect. Yes, you want to win trophies but the main thing is to play week in, week out."
