The England international’s future at Anfield is uncertain as new Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is believed to be ready to offload the targetman.
With the signing of striker Fabio Borini Carroll is said to be ready to leave Merseyside on loan, with reports linking the forward to AC Milan and West Ham.
Reports have also emerged linking the Tyneside club with a move for their former star, and one of Carroll’s friends has revealed that he would be open to the idea.
“From a professional point of view Andy is miffed that he wasn’t given the chance to show what he can do in front of new manager Brendan Rodgers,” a close friend of Carroll’s said, according to The Daily Mail.
“He was expecting to get at least pre-season to show what he could offer him. He ended last season on a high and wanted to continue that.
“Now Newcastle are interested and Andy wants to come home. He’s already told Liverpool that too. He’s surprised Liverpool don’t want him anymore and doesn’t want to be where he is not wanted,” he/she concluded.
